Projects
My research interests lie in developing new ways to advance the disciplines of sustainability science and resilience, learning science and practice, complexity in the form of transdisciplinary areas of science and engineering, and complex networks and socio-environmental systems. While these have been a lifelong pursuit, and many of these projects could be listed in any category, the organizing principle represented here might make it easier to navigate. Note some projects will appear under multiple headings.
In developing research and public programs, I emphasize that a) we use participatory design-based research approaches to inform what effect they have on the discipline itself and engage diverse learners as researchers, so we can better serve under-resourced communities, students, teachers, and academic institutions; and b) that these programs of research and practice can be actionable to build successful, global communities of practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to increase and measure impact at scale. I am always seeking new ideas, collaborations, and partnerships. Please contact me!
